Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 April 2026.

1. Who we are

ExternalOS is a UK sole-trader business operated by the proprietor. Trading address available on request via hello@externalos.com. Governing law: England and Wales.

2. What we sell

Digital files: structured instruction sets, calculators, document templates, and Notion templates. You receive a perpetual licence to use the files for your own business and the businesses you directly advise. You may not resell, re-upload, redistribute, or sub-licence the files.

3. Where you buy

All purchases go through Gumroad (gumroad.com). Gumroad is the merchant of record. Their terms apply to the payment transaction in addition to ours. UK and EU buyers are charged 20% VAT at checkout, which Gumroad collects and remits.

4. Refunds

Reply to your Gumroad receipt within 14 days of purchase requesting a refund and we will issue one without further questions. You keep the files. After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion. This is more generous than the statutory floor for digital downloads.

5. Statutory information about digital downloads

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 reg. 37, your right to cancel a digital download is lost once the download has begun, provided you have given express prior consent at checkout. Gumroad's checkout collects this consent.

6. Updates

We re-issue updated files when statutory rates or rules change materially (HMRC bands, ICO guidance, statutory instruments). Gumroad emails purchasers when we re-upload. Keep your purchase email. We do not commit to a fixed update interval; updates are reactive to legislative change.

7. Not professional advice

Our files are working tools for UK small businesses. They are not legal, tax, or financial advice. They do not replace professional advice from a solicitor, accountant, or qualified compliance officer. For decisions that will end up in court or in front of HMRC, verify the current position with a qualified professional before filing, signing, or serving anything.

8. No warranty

Files are provided as-is. We make best efforts to keep statutory references current as of the listed tax year. We accept no liability for outdated information, mis-application, or losses arising from use of the files.

9. Liability cap

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or in connection with these terms is limited to the amount you paid for the file giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraudulent misrepresentation.

10. Data protection

See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal data. We are a data controller for newsletter signups and customer support correspondence.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page is authoritative. Material changes will be communicated via email if they affect your rights.
